Capacitance Wave Gauge WG-55

RBR's new capacitance wave gauge, the WG-55, is used to measure wave heights.

RBR offers instruments to measure tides and waves by pressure or a direct capacitive sensor. For information of tide and wave measurement by pressure sensors see the Tide & Wave Instruments.   It is a reliable and highly linear and accurate instrument for the measurement of wave heights and water levels.

Features

  • Fewer re-calibrations
  • Temperature stable electronics
  • No probe proximity interference
  • No energy discharge in water
  • Fast response time

The WG-55 combines temperature stable electronics and a high quality probe head. This results in extremely small calibration slope changes over temperature, making frequent calibrations redundant. It measures wave heights (capacitance) using purely digital techniques, with no energy discharge in water and no interference with the adjacent probes. This capacitance wave meter has a linear response and is perfect for hydraulics laboratories with either small or large wave tanks. The WG-55's all-weather construction also make it useful for measuring in-situ waves, harbour tides and coastal wash. The wave gauge may be used for monwg-55 enclosure image_webitoring waves in hydraulic models and ship tanks, measuring water level changes from sub-millimeter to meters and is ideally suited for measuring multidirectional waves and water surface geometry. For use in indoor and outdoor, and freshwater and salt water applications. An optional 14 bit A/D is available to interface to a data collection system.

Standard probe lengths are 30, 60 and 100cm, however RBR can construct probes as short as 10cm have for use in wave tanks and flumes.  Longer probe lengths are available Contact us with your probe length requirements.

The WG-55 replaces the WG-50 (Originally released  in 1998) and consists of a weatherproof control unit, a BNC cable 30cm to 100cm in length, and a wave probe.
